Steps used to create Waiora's NCD (Natural Cellular Defense) clinoptilolite zeolite formula:

1- The clinoptilolite mineral has to be a very pure deposit and mined in as clean a method as possible. Zeolites are formed when lava from a volcano comes in contact with sea water and it has a negative charge. It attracts molecules with positive charges and will attract many different kinds of molecules that are present as it is forming, being mined and handled. Testing of mined clinoptilolite even shows diesel oil molecules that were captured by the zeolite from the diesel engine smoke of the mining equipment. Waiora's clinoptilolite is the highest purity, raw mined zeolite available, not the cheapest which is typically what the other companies are using. After mining and initial grinding this super high grade clinoptilolite has to go through Waiora's proprietary micronization and activation process or it will not provide the full body heavy metal and toxin removal benefits.

2- Since the native deposits of clinoptilolite have already absorbed many kinds of molecules, they have to be removed or there will be little to no heavy metal/toxin absorbtion due the zeolite "cages" already being full. The process of removing the caged molecules from the zeolite is called "cleansing" or "activation" and is necessary, not optional. Waiora created an intricate, proprietary process to remove these native caged molecules and Waiora is the only zeolite company that provides outside laboratory tests proving their "activated" zeolite is almost completely free of captured molecules. This cleansing and testing are critical and although some other companies make claims of cleansing, there is no backup to those claims, just empty claims.

3- Because of the clinoptilolite's large particle size, it is limited to only working in the digestive track unless the particles are greatly reduced in size to less than 1 micron. This process is called "micronization" and was pioneered by Waiora. Properly micronized clinoptilolite is so fine a powder it will remain suspended in liquids and even "floats" in the air. Waiora's micronization process is proprietary and they are the only company that has provided outside laboratory tests proving particle size. Many companies claim that their product is micronized but offer absolutely no proof, just another empty product claim.

4- Ion Ratio in the finished clinoptilolite is extremely critical to the ability of the product to attract and cage heavy metals and toxins. No other company even mentions this super important item and ion ratio is the final piece of the puzzle in turning raw clinoptilolite into Waiora's NCD (Natural Cellular Defense). The ion ratio is tested and adjusted using calcium and potassium to achieve the optimum absorbtion ratio for removing heavy metals and toxins.

5- The final step is suspending the micronized and activated clinoptilolite in pure water and balancing the PH of the resulting solution. Because of Waiora's proprietary processing, the clinoptilolite remains suspended in the water and the container does not have to be shaken before use. It is important to note that the micronized, activated, ion ratio balanced clinoptilolite is still a powder but it is now suspended in purified, PH balanced water which greatly aides the absorbtion of the zeolite molecules both through mouth membranes and in the stomach and digestive system. Other companies combine their zeolites with liquid but because their zeolites are not processed properly they do not remain in suspension and various acids and buffering compounds like humic acid are added to help keep their zeolites in suspension. Those companies using humic acid try to spin it as adding good things to their zeolite but common sense will tell a person that decomposed plants that comprise humic acid does not augment the heavy metal/toxin removal ability of zeolites and can add to a person's toxic load. There have also been serious health problems caused by poorly processed zeolites that contain humic acid.

It is very important to realize that zeolites are a "take out" health supplement, not a "put in" supplement and you can't combine those functions and still have a zeolite that does a good job of caging and removing heavy metals and toxins. It is counter productive to combine anything with the micronized, activated, ion ratio balanced, ph adjusted zeolite formula; it just ruins its performance and ends up with molecules of the additives being attracted into and filling the zeolite cages.

Some companies combine vitamins, minerals, herbs, antioxidants (DHQ) and even metals with their improperly processed zeolites trying to impress potential buyers that their zeolite product "does it all". These companies put up wonderful websites and twist logic and present many falsehoods to entice buyers. Now that you are armed with the real information, you can evaluate those website claims and see right through them for what they are: marketing fluff.

Waiora has gone to great expense testing NCD's efficacy including blood serum testing to detect the presence of zeolites where it counts. They commissioned 14 clinical tests on their NCD, one of which has been published which is almost unheard of for a health supplement. Waiora has also had their NCD tested by independent 3rd party labs and released those tests on: particle size, elemental analysis, purity, quantity, ion ratio, ph, blood serum presence and quantity and more. Without exception, no other company has done these tests. Zeoliteliquid.com is the only company listing a 3rd party lab test and it is one test only and they tested for mold, yeast and microbes because they add humic acid to their formula. Unfortunately there is nothing to stop these other companies from making false claims, twisting logic and outright lying since the health supplement industry is essentially unregulated by the FDA other than stopping supplement companies from making disease prevention or cure claims.

Why NCD is Superior to Other Zeolite Products by Kathleen Deoul

Waiora launched Natural Cellular Defense (NCD) in September, 2005.  The overwhelming success of NCD meant a number of "me too" products subsequently appeared in the marketplace.  There are important differences between those zeolite products and Waiora's NCD which should be understood before making a product purchase.

Other companies do not micronize (make smaller) or activate (cleanse) their zeolite - both of these steps are vitally important in assuring you are purchasing an effective product.  One company adds an antioxidant to create a story when there really isn't one.  Another claims its zeolite is 'nano' in size, when in fact it is 40 microns - far too large to be absorbed into the bloodstream.

Additionally, many competitors use humic and/or fulvic acid in their zeolite products.  It is doubtful there is no bacterial or fungal growth in any product which contains untreated humic and/or fulvic acid.  This is virtually impossible because humic and fulvic acids come from dead and decaying plant material (humus); bacteria and fungus are what make plants decay.  Thus, in order to kill the fungus or bacteria they would need to either gamma-irradiate the material or add unhealthy preservatives (sodium benzoate, parabens, etc).  The competitors also state there is 'no need' to clean out their zeolite because it is so pure; this is a clear indication of not understanding the basic science of clinoptilolite zeolites.  ALL zeolites contain heavy metals and volatile organic compounds. Zeolites are just too good at attracting and holding toxic metals and compounds; sitting out in nature the zeolite does what it was designed to do - attract toxins to itself.  Compliments of the jet stream toxins are now transported to even the most pristine parts of the world and get absorbed by the zeolites.  There is no clean zeolite in nature because there is no pristine environment left on the planet.  During mining the zeolite is bombarded with diesel exhaust and other contaminants from the mining process.  Without an activation (cleansing) process, their zeolite must contain all of these toxins. 

The reason humic acid is added to inferior zeolite products is because it helps keep the larger zeolite particles in solution - otherwise, they would separate and fall to the bottom of the bottle (think: oil & vinegar).  NCD doesn't have this problem because we micronize the zeolite so the average cage size is 1 micron or less (we go down to .349 nanometers); this means the zeolite powder is so finely ground that it cannot fall out of solution. Most other zeolite products can be up to 40 microns in size which means they are simply too large to go into the blood stream to chelate or remove toxins at the cellular level all over the body.  Thus, the competitor's product basically enters into and chelates the gut.

It is important to remember if a contaminated (uncleaned) zeolite does enter the body, its ability to attract toxins, from the gut and from cells, into the zeolite cage is greatly diminished because the cages are already filled with contaminants. Think of it like going out to collect trash with an already full trash bag; how efficient can you really be with an already full trash bag? 

This is a buyer beware situation. With an inferior zeolite product one may be paying a bit less, but for a poor quality product which is basically providing little or no advantage to the user.
